Product Manager
Own the production models that power scheduling and routing at scale. Partner with customers, ship improvements, and drive the engine behind real business growth.
About Timefold
At Timefold, we are building the intelligent scheduling optimization platform for software developers in workforce management.
We empower IT and product teams to build robust, trustworthy, and performant workforce scheduling systems that handle real-world complexity at scale.
Our customers are product and engineering leaders who own scheduling optimization integrated in software products or internal platforms.
We're looking for a Product Manager to own the models that power Timefold's current business.
This is a preferably onsite/hybrid role based at our Ghent, Belgium headquarters.
The role
You will be the second person in product, reporting to the VP of Product.
Your job is to own the production models that keep the current business running and growing: Employee Shift Scheduling, Field Service Routing, and Pickup and Delivery Routing. You work with the customers using these, and the delivery engine that ships improvements to them.
Each model has a dedicated engineering team led by a model owner. You will work closely with these model owners, taking the product side off their plate: owning the roadmap, writing specs, running discovery, and signing off on releases. You will own a full product area: running prioritization with engineering, making scope tradeoff calls, signing off on releases, tracking competitive developments, and being the primary interface between engineering, design, and marketing for all model-related work.
You will work closely with a UX designer, a technical writer, a DevRel, and a Product Marketing Manager. The VP of Product is your manager and the escalation path on hard prioritization calls, not a day-to-day backstop. Your help will allow the VP of Product to focus on the next horizon: the open platform that Timefold is building toward.
We will be honest: this role will not look exactly the same in twelve months as it does today. As the team grows and our products mature, responsibilities will shift. We value people who see that as an opportunity rather than a problem, and who actively contribute to how we organize product work over time.
What you will own
Discovery and strategy
Run a structured customer interview cadence and feed decision-ready summaries into the model roadmap.
Maintain a forward-looking model roadmap; not just a backlog of incoming requests, but a view of where customers are heading and what gaps need to be closed proactively.
Own competitive analysis for the models: track what competitors and adjacent players in the ESS, FSR, and PDR space are doing.
Close the feedback loop post-release: go back to customers to validate that shipped features actually solve the problem they were designed for.
Execution and quality
Drive models engineering and prioritization syncs: unblock engineers, surface risks early, make scope tradeoff calls.
Write and maintain feature specs: problem statement, scope, user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge cases.
Acceptance testing for model features end to end: define the criteria, execute the tests, and sign off on releases.
Define success metrics per feature before it ships, and use product analytics tools to track adoption and close the feedback loop.
Triage and prioritize model bugs: severity, customer impact, urgency.
Own feature request triage.
Documentation and changelog
Maintain the model changelog so the Product Marketing Manager (PMM) and DevRel can pull from it without having to ask.
Conduct periodic documentation audits to flag outdated content after changes ship.
Design collaboration
Write product briefs specific enough to unblock the UX designer on model visualization features.
Give structured feedback on design proposals, grounded in customer research.
Product marketing interface
Brief the PMM on upcoming model releases with enough lead time to act on them.
Translate shipped features into "what's now possible" language for positioning and collateral.
Review PMM-produced campaign messaging for product accuracy on the models side.
Feed relevant model-level competitive and customer insights to the PMM for market-level positioning work.
What we are looking for
Must have:
4+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, with meaningful experience on a developer-facing or API product;
Strong written communication: you write clear specs that engineers can act on, and release summaries that non-technical colleagues can use;
Comfortable with technical concepts: APIs, webhooks, data schemas, developer tooling. You do not write code, but you can read a JSON payload and ask the right questions;
Structured and thorough: you document carefully, define success metrics before shipping, and follow things through to validated outcomes, not just to "shipped";
Enough autonomy to make good product calls independently, and enough judgment to know when to escalate;
Preferably based in Belgium with at least 2 in-person days per week in Ghent (remote can be considered);
Leads without authority: as a PM you hold no formal authority over the people you work with daily, but you are accountable for outcomes that depend on their buy-in. You get there through good stakeholder management: clarity, consistency, and earning trust, not through hierarchy;
Nice to have:
Experience with open-source products or developer communities;
Familiarity with optimization, scheduling, routing, or logistics domains;
Background in early-stage environments with shifting role definitions;
What we offer
High-ownership role with real responsibility from day one;
A product surface that is technically rich and customer-facing: three production models used by real organizations managing real people's schedules and routes;
Possibility to work as an employee or as a contractor.
Full-time or 4 days/week position based in Ghent, Belgium; Belgium-based preferred / remote within CET hours considered
Timefold is committed to building an inclusive team. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
