At Timefold, we are building the intelligent scheduling optimization platform for software developers in workforce management. We empower IT teams to build robust, trustworthy, and performant workforce scheduling systems that handle real-world complexity at scale.
Our customers are product and engineering leaders who own scheduling optimization integrated in software products or internal platforms.
We are a team of roughly 35+ people. Technically sharp, deeply proud of what we build, and growing fast. We are hiring our first Head of HR to build the people foundation that matches the ambition of our product.
The Role
As Head of HR, you sit at the leadership table as an architect of how Timefold grows. You will build our HR function from the ground up, align our people strategy with our business ambitions, and actively protect the culture that makes this place worth working at.
This is a true greenfield role inside a company that already has momentum, where there is a genuine opportunity to build something excellent from day one, and the leadership team's full support to do it.
Your Core Responsibilities
Build and Scale a High-Performing Organization
Design and own a consistent, scalable hiring process across all teams and geographies, replacing the current ad hoc, team lead-driven approach with something deliberate and repeatable
Define what a Timefold hire looks like across every function, and make that standard defensible
Drive workforce planning and organizational design as we scale toward doubling headcount
Ensure role clarity, accountability, and ownership are embedded across the organization
Support managers in structuring and growing their teams with confidence
Protect, Shape, and Nurture Our Values and Culture
Our values are real and authored by the early team members of Timefold. You will:
Translate company values into concrete behaviors and hiring, onboarding, feedback, and promotion practices
Address the silos quietly forming between teams, and restore the directness and high-ownership energy that has always defined us
Build listening and feedback mechanisms that surface tension early, before it hardens into disengagement
Equip Our Leaders to Lead More Effectively
You will build a shared leadership framework that will:
Give every manager a common language, clear expectations, and the tools to have hard conversations with confidence
Coach leadership on people topics and embed a culture of real feedback and radical candor
Identify and develop the next generation of leaders as we scale
Build the People Function from Scratch
Design and implement a performance management system that is simple, fair, and genuinely used
Define our compensation and benefits philosophy across geographies (currently Belgium, the UK, broader Europe, Australia, Brazil, and Canada)
Build onboarding that absorbs new hires into our culture from day one
Ensure legal and compliance foundations are solid across every region we operate in
Select and implement lean, purposeful HR tooling that serves us without slowing us down
Attract, Retain, and Develop Top-Tier Talent
Build an employer brand and candidate experience that reflects who we are and positions Timefold as a destination for technically exceptional people
Align distributed, international teams around shared goals and a coherent employee experience
Partner with leadership on long-term talent strategy as we expand into new markets and prepare for our next stage of growth
Design career paths and development frameworks that give people a reason to grow with us
You Might Be a Fit If
You have 10+ years in People or HR leadership, with meaningful experience inside scaling technology companies
You have built a People function from scratch before, and you know the difference between building right and building fast
You have managed people operations across multiple geographies and understand the legal and cultural nuances that come with it
You have witnessed cultural drift firsthand and know how to course-correct with both speed and sensitivity
You are as comfortable architecting a compensation framework as you are having a candid conversation with a founder
You are hands-on by nature; this is a solo build to start, and you will be doing as much as you are directing
You hold strong, well-reasoned convictions about what exceptional hiring, onboarding, and management look like and bring these to life
